Our Wedding Photos

This post is long overdue, but now that I'm on maternity leave I have some time on my hands so I've been going through all of our photos and uploading albums to share. We also seriously need to decorate our home with more pictures, so this is part of that project I am working on while I'm trying to patiently (anxiously?) wait for Baby McZimm to come. I've included two of our favorites below, but you will need to click here to view our wedding photos.

Enjoy!

Honeymoon

Well hello everyone!

Just MarriedSean and I are back from our honeymoon in St. Maarten.  Our wedding day was perfect, everything went exactly as planned (thanks to our families and our wedding party!).  It was so fun to see everyone we love in one place!  We just wish we had more time to spend with everyone and dance!

Hotel ViewThe honeymoon was perfect as well.  The weather was beautiful the entire time, except for half a day on Thursday when the beginnings of Tropical Storm Faypassed over St. Maarten.  Fortunately though it was just a moderate rain storm when it passed over us, and had not yet officially become a tropical storm.

Infinity PoolAs is typical in tropical climates, the day the storm passed over us the rain came out of nowhere, and Sean and I actually had our bathing suits and towels drying out on our balcony.  All of a sudden we noticed it was rather noisy outside, and we opened up the balcony door to a down pour.  We raced out quickly to bring in our things, and when we closed the door we realized the wall inside our room was covered with rain!  It was pretty funny actually.  But by the next morning it was back to 80 degrees and sunny.  It did sprinkle every day around 4pm, but we just stayed in the pool and drank our Piña Coladas every day until it passed.  What a life!

MarigotOn Friday we attempted a ferry ride to St. Barths, but the crazy captain decided to cancel the trip when we showed up, and for those of you who remember my "Cruise from Hell" story in Australia, I figured it was a sign to stay on land.  Sean and I ended up renting a car and driving around the island instead, which only takes about 45 minutes round trip.  Fortunately, despite Sean's concerns, they do not require a passport when you pass from the Dutch to the French side of St. Maarten.  Talk about a bureaucratic nightmare if they did!

Orient BayWe also stopped at Orient Bay, which is famous for its clothing optional resort, at which point Sean reassured me that our option was "clothing = yes!", haha!  All joking aside, the hilltop view of Orient Bay was probably one of the most beautiful on the island.

Plane LandingFinally, and seriously, this was Sean's FAVORITE spot on the island, we accidentally took a wrong turn and ended up at Maho beach next to the St. Maarten airport, where the planes literally land right over your head.  In fact, there are signs posted everywhere that warn that the jet blast from planes taking off and landing overhead can cause serious death and/or injury!  That did not keep Sean away though, we even had to come back AGAIN a second time before we left.  He really did enjoy watching the planes coming in for landing.

We did do a little bit of gambling as our hotel, the Westin, had a casino.  Despite a fantastic $50 win the first day on the penny slots, we ended up a few dollars down, but preserved our luck for the plane flight home and managed to escape Miami Int'l Airport hours before Tropical Storm Fay blew in.

Don't forget to check out the rest of our St. Maarten pictures here!

Love,

Eileen & Sean

Welcome!

Welcome to Our Website

Hello family and friends, and welcome to our site! As you now know, we are getting married in Santa Clara, California on Saturday, August 9, 2008. This site is way for you to get to know who we are, and to gather any information that you need about our wedding. We are blessed to have you in our lives, and we look forward to seeing you in a few short weeks!

About the Bride

Eileen is a marketing consultant, and works with early stage start-up companies on demand creation.  She graduated from Santa Clara University on June 13th with an M.B.A., and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of California, Irvine.

About the Groom

Sean is a visual designer at Intuit, and often does freelance work for companies here in Silicon Valley.  Sean designed our “Save the Date” cards, wedding invitations, and website.  He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Graphic Design from San Jose State University.

How We Met

Sean and I met on February 18, 2006, and had our first date at La Fiesta, one of Eileen’s favorite Mexican restaurants in the Bay Area. We clicked instantly, and talked for hours until the place finally closed. I think we both knew right away that we had something special.

The Proposal

Sean proposed to me on August 3, 2007, in Monterey, California, along the waterfront near Fisherman’s Wharf. Respecting tradition, Sean asked my father for permission earlier in the week before he popped the question. We celebrated with a dinner at Stillwater Bar & Grill overlooking the 18th Green at Pebble Beach.
